Accomplishments:
Colorado 2006-2017 Books to Believe In, LucidLights LLC
- Created multiple original automation programs for our authors' book promotions.
- Created program for formatting, layout, validation, and creation of Kindle books.
- Created PIC-based LucidLights and LucidBrake consumer electronics inventions.
Nebraska 2001-2006 Valmont Wind Energy
- Designed, programmed and implemented a complete Industrial PC data acquisition system for monitoring large
scale wind turbine systems.
- Created utility addins for Autodesk Inventor.
- Created enhanced functionality in Excel engineering spreadsheets using VBA.
- Created many programs to aid engineers and managers with a variety of wind energy tasks.
Colorado 1989-2001 ARCO Power Systems, Peak Performance
- Independently designed and created software systems for several of the world's largest solar energy
commercial power generation facilities. Multiple real time programs monitored and controlled hundreds of
heliostats and weather instruments, displayed simulated real time three-dimensional views of the fields and
provided fail-safe automatic takeover by standby computers. Programming languages used included FORTRAN,
HP-BASIC, HPL and C. These programs ran automatically and successfully for many years.
- Designed and created a variety of .NET compliant components for graphics, cryptography, compression,
astronomy, math and engineering applications.
- Created software to control frame grabber video hardware for 3D video motion analysis, used to train U.S.
Olympics athletes, and for advanced medical diagnostics.
Alaska 1986-1989 ARCO Oil & Gas
- Created Trend Analysis and Well Optimization numerical and graphical analysis software that met and exceeded
requirements set by Alaska’s North Slope oil field Reservoir Engineers.
- Created a set of COM compliant Visual Basic custom graphical controls that replaced industrial
instrumentation hardware components with a pure Windows interface.
- Created and updated data acquisition software for ARCO Alaska's oil field data.
- Created a unique programming language that saved many man-hours programming TI-530 Programmable Logic
Controllers.
Montana 1978-1986 ILX Lightwave, Toomey Mathis Inc.
- Created software for automated analysis of laser diode characteristic curves for the fiber optic
telecommunications industry.
- Created classified laser scatterometer control and data analysis software for surface optical reflectance
properties of space-borne materials.
- Designed and created software to control and collect data from an x-ray quantometer for copper ore analysis.
An original idea, to use multiple linear regression analysis, significantly enhanced the accuracy of the
eight channels of data beyond the factory specs.
- Interfaced several types of computers to laboratory instruments using Serial (RS-232), Parallel (Centronics)
and HPIB (IEEE-488) hardware and software protocols.
- Created software for radio polling of atmospheric air quality monitoring stations, satisfying federal EPA
reporting requirements.
Military Experience:
- Nebraska Air National Guard, 1972-1978
- Fours years as full time civilian technician, maintained advanced electronic and optical airborne sensor
systems, including radar, infra-red and optical reconnaissance systems.
Education:
- Honor graduate, U. S. Air Force Electronics School, Denver, Colorado.
- Cleveland Institute of Electronics. Earned First Class FCC license with Radar Endorsement.
- University of Nebraska. Undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering
Math.
- Industry courses: HPUX (HP UNIX), HPL, HP BASIC, HP1000, Boeing Computer Services – FORTRAN
